Mover777: Did he EVER play on any album again after Heartīs split?
HMLEESE: his new band is called "clever bastards"
Mitch enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: I donīt have a question for Howard, but just a brief comment. He is one of the first well-known guitarists whom I learned was a fan of Kossī. I remember being a teenager, and reading an interview with Howard in which he mentioned Kossī vibrato and thinking "oh cool! Someone else out there loves this stuff as much as I do! Groovy...so thank you Howard. This wouldnīve been in the mid-80s..
DaveC: Hi Carl, Yes you do!!
ingrid: Howard, iIs being a guitar player for Paul Rodgers always on the verge of being compared to Koss?
smithers: and looks ive picked a good night to start again
DaveC: How did the book do?
lucypiller: OK I would like to officially welcome our guests Howard Leese - Jaz Lochrie and David Clayton, and now let the chat take over
Mover777: I am unfamiliar with Jaz - can someone clue me in?
JimCasey: Jaz played in Paul Rodgersī solo bands and later bad Co
ingrid: Mover, you canīt be sserious!!
JimCasey: Bad Company, sorry
Mover777: ah, thank you
guest414: Dave if you still have my email address send me a mailing address and Iīll send you something
Rich UK: lol

DaveC: Jaz plays on Now and Electric and the live albim from Lorerley
ingrid: merchants of cool, you should own the DVD!
guest414: Dave rutdelge is in a bit of a stall at the moment
sarabar: and Iīve seen him with our"guy" ! ie PR
lucypiller: Howard can you please tell everyone a little about your upcoming CD????
HMLEESE: the last show i did with paul was in seattle, and after the show, a guy came up and said "you were scaring me, it seemed like you were challeling Koss".
JimCasey: Nice!
Rich UK: brilliant
JimCasey: Thatīs what Iīd call getting "in the zone"
JimCasey: :-)
HMLEESE: i try to play his stuff as close as i can
DaveC: Of the songs he played with Paul Rodgers which did Howard enjoy the most?
lucypiller: Carl Dunn you are the Guest 414?
smithers: but ive found its hard to even to get koss tone is it the same for you or what?
JimCasey: Thatīs a great approach Howard and one that I can appreciate. Iīve seen loads of guitarists mangle All Right Now
Ennio TO enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: Hey there Ennio
JimCasey: Welcome
Ennio TO leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Sasha-Rostov: Welcome Ennio!
lucypiller: Hello Ennio
HMLEESE: as paul has been with queen , iīve had time to do some recording
lucypiller: Hi David sorry I didnt even see you there
Mover777: for me, Howardīs coda to "Barracuda" is a supreme piece of Heartīs musical rep.
guest414: Lucypiller--thatīs the rumor--actually I couldnīt figure out how to log on as Carl Dunn
JimCasey: I love Kossī approach to chord voicing, itīs brilliant
ingrid: what about the famous vibrato? Easy for you or a toughie?
Rich UK: yeah, did find that vibrato came naturally, or did it take practice?
lucypiller: May I just mention CARL DUNNs photos are amongst the photos shown at the QPR shows in the USA on the big screen
Rich UK: oh right, they are great carl
guest414: howard what is the single most unique characteristic of Paulīs guitar style
HMLEESE: the vibrato requires you to tremble you entire forearm. the hand comes off the neck a little
Debs: is there anything howard canīt play well! I think not!
JimCasey: Kossī vibrato is just amazing..especially on the Fire & Water and Highway records...
Ennio TO enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: i do take my hand from the neck, but watching koss, it looks like he doesnīt
Mover777: It was pretty heavy on SOBS and FREE, too.
Ennio TO leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Sasha-Rostov: Exactly Jim
DaveC: Carlīs book is fantastic. Anyone who doesnīt have it should get it
JimCasey: The solo on "Remember" is one of the All Time Greatest Solos in the History of Great Solos! :-)
lucypiller: Jaz - Can you tell us what your projects have been lately??
JimCasey: On some bits it sounds like a sax (his phrasing and tone)
Rich UK: so is Iīll be creepinī
guest414: Thanks for the compliment Rich
Mover777: ... and "Free Me"
Sasha-Rostov: For instance Koss is unique for the melody of his solos
Rich UK:
ingrid: but the best way to listen to Koss is on songs of yesterday via ipod, there you can hear him perfectly
JAZLOCHRIE: Iīm working on an album with Bucket at the moment....start tracking in April
Sasha-Rostov: And what about TIME AWAY?
JimCasey: Cool, Jaz..
lucypiller: Jaz is their a name for the band? And who else is in the band?
JAZLOCHRIE: Demos are nearly all done and today we booked the studio....provisionally
Mover777: thanks DC for salvaging that longer take for the boxed set - sounded like an entirely new song
HMLEESE: the economy is so amazing, at times he plays so little, but that gives each note meaning
Mitch: I think Iīll listen to Iīll be creepin
sarabar: Jaz any English dates?
Rich UK: yeah, i would come along to any english tour dates
lucypiller: Howard is releasing his own cd shortly right Howard, please tell us a little about it .....
Mitch: Iīll join you Richard
JimCasey: Yes, I agree Howard, Kossī phrasing was great, and very vocal...he and Rodgers just played off each other...it must be a joy to do that with Rodgers now.
sarabar: Rich UK where are U?!
JimCasey: Cool
HMLEESE: iīve got 10 songs, some finished, some in progress
JAZLOCHRIE: No name as of yet...the album is provisionally called "guitars Beers and Tears. Me Bucket and Gary the drummer from Thunder
Mover777: Can you tell us who the drummer is?
Rich UK: sarabar - I live in the North East, near Newcastle
Ennio TO enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: sarabar - yourself?
JAZLOCHRIE: Singers are all different...
HMLEESE: iīve done demos of "Be my Friend" and "Long way down" by BSC
sarabar: AH! I am in the south west! How are your wings for flying?!
Ennio TO: Hey looks like iīm in this time!
Rich UK: be my friend has to be one of the most emotional koss songs ever
JAZLOCHRIE: Canīt say who they are at the moment till everything is tied up...but you will know them
lucypiller: That sounds super Howard, I am looking forward to hearing them
JimCasey: Jaz, Iīde be curious about your take on Andy Fraserīs work with Free...I very rarely meet any bass players here in the US who even know who he is...
Rich UK: i would travel to see any good musician
sarabar: Jaz, I have seen Thunder lots!
JimCasey: welcome ennio
HMLEESE: i did a version of "Somewhere" from West Side Story
DaveC: That sounds good Howard, would love to hear them
Ennio TO: thanx Jim
JimCasey: Cool, Howard..
HMLEESE: the rest is original
Debs: Hi Ennio
Mover777: I liked Todd Rundgrenīs version of that on "Wizard/True Star"
JimCasey: Ennio, did you see I made a pizza?
Ennio TO: hey Deb!
JimCasey: ...just kidding...
Rich UK: sarabar - my wings are fine for flying, i would travel to see a musician i greatly admired
Ennio TO: he he Jim.......I just had one!
JAZLOCHRIE: Andy has a very unique style....very funky and melodic...so often the bass player goes unnoticed but he certainly WAS noticable....love īim
JimCasey: LOL!
ingrid: So Hoard, when and where are you going to promote your new cd on tour? Any plans for rejoining with PR later this year?
Debs: we have some great new music to look foward to then
lucypiller: I have just started to build up a new Paul Kossoff site,
Ennio TO: Hi Lucy, did you get the pix?
lucypiller: so do keep checking it for updates
smithers: so jazz there been a few rumours of a bad company reunion after rodgers has finished touring with queen is there any truth in them?
Mover777: Howrd - any chance on the Wilsonīs sitting down with an archivest like David and putting out a boxed set on the order of "Songs of Yesterday" ?
lucypiller: Yes I did - awesome really
Ennio TO: good
Rich UK: lucy - oh, a new Koss site, canīt wait
JimCasey: Cool, thanks Jaz. I agree - Andy is/was in Free just amazing...the way heīd leave spaces like on the Free At Last record
lucypiller: well its up on ARN - Im just updating it
HMLEESE: iīve heard we start up again in june
JimCasey: thatīs excellent
sarabar: Rich uk , I am an admirer and fan of PR et al, not a musician,
Debs: Canīt wait for that Lucy
JAZLOCHRIE: The ball is totally in Paulīs court....as you might guess. We wewre supposed to continue touring in 03 and he halted it....who knows
Rich UK: sarabar - oh right, sorry, where abouts in the south west do you live??
Arthur enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
lucypiller: Hey Arthur - how ya doing?
ingrid: Jaz, did you just borrow Gary from Thunder or did he quit there?
Arthur: Hi Lucy, very well thanks
JimCasey: I was impressed by the few bits of Queen/PR Iīd heard. His voice...still incredible
lucypiller: OK as we have more people on now please once again tell everyone where you are from
lucypiller: Lucy - Atlanta
guest230 enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: Jim - Boston MA USA Earth
ingrid: Ingrid -Linz/Austria
JimCasey: :-)
sarabar: sarabar #south west england
Arthur: From the UK
Rich UK: Richard - NE england

HMLEESE: howard leese- guitar - paul rodgers band-malibu
Ennio TO: Ennio Toronto
JAZLOCHRIE: Gary is still with Thunder....they are also recording pretty soon....he found a window for us....Jimmy Copley is on standby...
guest230 leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Jimmy is a drumming GOD
smithers: the wider opinion around my friends and family is the tour with queen was not great i found he was pushed to the back alot for the sake of self indulgence on the part of may and tailor
Mover777: David Clayton - can you tell us how much acoustic on the Free albums is Koss and how much is Andy - roughly?
Mick - Yorks enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY FREE CONVENTIONS GOING ON IN THE UK??
JimCasey: good question...
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
lucypiller: I dont think their is a Convention this year
Arthur: Jim Copley is a great drummer
DaveC: All Andy up to FAL
HMLEESE: carl, i want to use some of your shots for my cd
beracey leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
sarabar: to Rich uk, I live near Bath, met Lucy in Atlanta last August,
JimCasey: On the first record, I believe the acoustic on Over the Green Hills is Andy, no?
Mover777: oh really? interesting
DaveC: Andy is a great guitar player
Rich UK: same about no conventions, seems like a prime year as well
JimCasey: Not positive...
Mover777: I think on that song itīs PR with one finger.
JimCasey: which finger>?
Mover777: lol
JimCasey: Sorry, just kidding
DaveC: PR did play some acoustic
sarabar enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JAZLOCHRIE: Dave ...Jimmy said to say hello
guest414: Howard you are welcome to use anything I have sent you, I may have some other things as well
lucypiller: Maybe next year I can sort something out with some of the tribute bands in the UK
Mover777: Well he and Koss interacted on those quieter songs very very well.
JimCasey: I read in the FAS it was his middle finger (itīs a Middlesborough thing...)
lucypiller: JIM CASEY?????
lucypiller: sorry Jim
JimCasey: Yes?
lucypiller: thought I read Jim Copley lol
Rich UK: is it possible to send private messages on this caht room??
HMLEESE: a couple on that proof sheet are cool.
guest414: I was in a bit of a hurry when I gave those to Aubry. I may have other that I like better
Rich UK: any FREE/koss tributes people suggest going to see?? I am going ot see Freeway in a couple of weeks
Mover777: I hope Mushroom/Portrait-CBS still have the original masters of Heartīs early work so that one day a good box set could be done with alternate takes, et al.
ingrid: Howard, have you actually ever met Koss?
Arthur: Jaz - are you still involved with mama mia in London, last time I saw you was there a couple of years or so back
lucypiller: Freeway are fabulous
Mover777: They need to come to SC some time.
Rich UK: SC?? sorry for my ignorance
Sasha-Rostov: Lucy, whatīs happen with Freed?
Mover777: South Carolina - USA
HMLEESE: Free came to l.a. opening for CREAM. one show i wish iīd seen
JAZLOCHRIE: Hi Arthur....yes...thatīs a gig I run in London and when I am not doing anything else I pop in there....I have 6 other guys that cover it for me
lucypiller: I have no idea, suppose they have no gigs right now
Mitch: Freeway should be good like Richard
DaveC: I was in Winson Salen NC last week!!
JimCasey: Howard, do you mean Blind Faith?
Mover777: What were you doing over there?
Sasha-Rostov: Thanks, but I thiught they split
JimCasey: I think Free opened a tour for BF and Delaney and Bonnie
Rich UK: yeah, they seemed to follow Clapton
DaveC: Visiting friends. Went to Pilot mountain. It was very cool
lucypiller: By the way TODD SMITH is due to come on but he will be very late, he had something come up and he said he would log on as soon as he gets home
Mover777: Pilot mntn is interesting.
JimCasey: Cool...
HMLEESE: i thought it was Cream, anyway, I never saw them
JimCasey: Anyone know how to play "Oh I Wept" by the way?
DaveC: Free were bottom of the bill with Blind Faith. 25 minute sets
Mover777: Jim - yes, put in the cd, hit track 2
Mover777:
ingrid: opening for BF was really a desastrous experience for Free
Rich UK leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: LOL!
DaveC: But a standing ovation in Denver!
Mover777: Well that tour was not a musical success for BF, either, for that matter.
JimCasey: Iīll try that...<Jim gets the piss taken out of him by Mover777> LOL!
lucypiller: David, I spoke to Simon Kossoff about the Kossoff fund and he said it was now closed. Can we not open a new one???
guest1 enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: Who is Simon Kossoff?
Mover777: brother?
guest414: I saw Free open for Rod Stewart in Memphis Tenn
Sasha-Rostov: Jim, Mike Jarvis plays Oh I Wept very well. But he kept that as a well-kept secret.
ingrid: Was Koss at any time aware of his way to hell or did he live in denial what was happening to him because of his drugabuse?
JimCasey: Hi Sasha, thatīs interesting,...who is Mike Jarvis?
DaveC: Sure but what Iīve been doing is giving any donations to the hospice charity as thatīs where David gererally put them anyway
Sasha-Rostov: Mike Jarvis is Led Zep Too (ex-Juicy Lucy, Freed) guitarist
Mover777: DaveC - any chance at all of (whoever owns the rights) for the complete Free IOW set to be released on DVD some day?
JimCasey: I just havenīt really sat down and tried to figure it out note-for-note...today would be a good day for that, actually! :-)
JimCasey: oh cool, thanks Sasha!
guest1 leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Iīm looking into that as we speak!
Mover777: VERY cool
Rich UK enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: I have the "dedicated to Koss" Free laser but it only wets the appetites.
Rich UK leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: There may not be more material BUT we might be able to do multiple camera angles
Mover777: yeah, Andy is almost cut out of most of the movie - sad.
JimCasey: Oh cool! Youīre taking video/DVD?
DaveC: All three cuts, Koss camera.... YES PLEASE!!
smithers leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: it was like cam-hard right
lucypiller: Howard - Do you have any upcoming shows this year?
DaveC: DVD
ingrid: Dave, then please donīt forget any b-roll activities!!
DaveC: Andy camera also
DaveC: There were 7 cameras total
Mover777: Itīs always amazing to watch Free live and try to figure out how Kirke is doing what heīs doing - itīs deceptive.
DaveC: The youīll be able to watch the Kirke camera and work it out!
Mover777:
JimCasey: One of the things that I always wished would be released is a video of Free in a small club/theatre. On the Best of Free video - including the IOW, I never thought any of the video released captured them in their natural enviornment or at their "best." But that said, I would welcome any official release of the rest of their IOW set..
HMLEESE: Iīve heard we start on june 2nd, 3 shows in june
Mover777: Jim - the Granada TV material is close to that.
DaveC: Iīd have to agree that the film there is does them no justice but its all there is
lucypiller: I am amazed to read about how many young bands influenced on FREE. I get emails each week of a new band who plays the FREE style
Mover777: maybe if we take Lucyīs pics and fast-slide them real quick with a live Free soundtrack?
JimCasey: mover - which bits are the Grenada TV parts?
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: Fire & Water?
Mover777: the ones of them playing in front of the tv audience
Mover777: they do Iīll Be Creeping and Song of Y.
DaveC: NICE lighting on the Granada show huh!
JimCasey: Oh yes...I know what you mean now...yes, youīre right, those are good performances, I agree.
Arthur: Lucy, I do a lot of stuff with school age bands these days and Iīm constantly amazed at their reference points these days, Free very much to the fore
DaveC: Full studio flood
Mover777: yes and there is supposedly more material for that, too !!!!!
JimCasey: Yeah, a bit more suble lighting would have been better
JimCasey: Yeah...
lucypiller: I suppose you all have seen the video footage on these video websites of the Free shows from either TV or Isle of Wight
Mover777: probably a limitation of videotape in that era
Mover777: and the promos
JimCasey: What was the Fire & Water bit from? The band sounds great on that and Rodgers and Koss are KILLING on that version
DaveC: Not so actually. The French show Pop 2 was much better
Mover777: one of them comes from a German TV thingie
Mitch: How amazing are the soloīs and break on Kossīs behalf on "Iīm a Mover" on the Live cd?!
Mover777: with the psychedelic affects
JimCasey: The miming stuff on Top of the Pops is funny (DC had a funny bit about this in the book) but Rodgersī live vocal sounds great
lucypiller: I honest think we need a band to tour with FREE exclusive music-
DaveC: That stuff is German, from BEAT CLUB
JimCasey: Sign me up...
JimCasey: :-)
ingrid: Jaz, are you from Scotland? It seems to be so when listening to the merchants of cool interviews
Mover777: Howard, I seem to remember you soloing during the show when yaīll did the cover of Nilssonīs song - am I remembering right?
JimCasey: I know some musicians from TX who are big Free fans
ingrid: Just suggested to PR to team up with Simon and Tetsu and to perform only!!! Free songs
Mover777: letīs not forget that Lynryd Skynyrd were heavily into Free.
JimCasey: yes, thatīs true - I just read a book on LS
JAZLOCHRIE: Hi Ingrid.....oh yes....a good scotch egg....still got my accent?
Sasha-Rostov: Foreigner as well
DaveC: Gary is a huge Kossoff fan
JimCasey: and their producer Al Kooper was as well...of course
lucypiller: Would it be cool to have an ALL STAR band covering FREE Songs - with artists performing like. Paul Rodgers Simon Kirke Howard Leese, Jaz Lochrie,Geoff Whitehorm - All the players
JimCasey: yes!
Mover777: "Simple Man" could have fit on a Free album
ingrid: brilliant idea, Lucy
Mover777: and Rabbit !
lucypiller: yes and Rabbit
lucypiller: Name the tour FREE AT LAST TOUR
Arthur: Where abouts are you from in Scotland Jaz? I met you on princeīs edinburgh back on the Now tour
JimCasey: Free influenced loads of bands...
Arthur: Iīd buy a ticket or two...
DaveC: Check out Cry Of Love for a FREE influence
Mover777: they are from around here
Mover777: SC / Georgia
JAZLOCHRIE: From Paisley Arthur...by Glasgow airport.....princeīs....?
DaveC: Raleigh NC
Mover777: used to play at the Catīs Cradle in Chapel Hill
DaveC: Thatīs right
Arthur: Princes Street...sorry! I was decked out in my suit but looking forward to Usher Hall gig that night
JimCasey: Many singers influenced by Rodgers...how could you not be?
Mover777: I am still amazed that a bunch of teens could produce so mature a work as Tons. Itīs an awesome album.
JAZLOCHRIE: I donīt remember Usher Hall....but the Barrowlands gig is maybe THE best gig I have ever experienced....Paul says it comes close for him too
JimCasey: Iīll second that
lucypiller: Incase you didnt see the news on my site folks I have now printed an Allrightnow T shirt. We are just sorting out the p & p but the shirt costs just $15 so do look out for it OK
Arthur: I was at the Barrowlands too, best gig ever for me
Ennio TO: A lot of people are still covering FREE tunes, Govīt mule with Mr. Big, Joe Bonamassa Walk In My Shadow.....
JAZLOCHRIE: Anyone got a bootleg?
JimCasey: ah yes...
HMLEESE: put me down for 2 shirts
DaveC: Barrowlands had an awesome audience but YORK was better musically
JAZLOCHRIE: of Barrowlands?
DaveC: Yes Iīll mail you one
Arthur: donīt know, Iīve never found one, but Iīd like to hear it, was a very special night
ingrid: guess the instruments can sound like Free, but what about the voice?
JAZLOCHRIE: York was more poshe...Corn Exchange?
Mover777: Did anybody shoot Free on film during their Aussie tour (Highway era)?
DaveC: More audience than band !!
Mover777: drat
DaveC: Yes there is film but we canīt find it
JimCasey: Wow!
JimCasey: that would be amazing...
JimCasey: the last gig?
JAZLOCHRIE: You mean the band werenīt posh....aaaawww
Mover777: I like the pics from that tour in the HL book - they look really tight.
DaveC: Sydney was filmed, in part at least
JimCasey: They look really good
JimCasey: wow...
DaveC: Look in Heavy Load and youīll see the cameraman at the front
Arthur: Didnīt get toYork on that tour, just Glasgow and Edinburgh, Edinburgh was a bit more reserved
JAZLOCHRIE: Do you not have a Barrowlands gig Dave?
DaveC: Yes I have it
JAZLOCHRIE: Mate....good quality?
Arthur: Is it good quality
DaveC: Edinburgh suffered from the Den of LOW Volume!
DaveC: Its okay but the audience drown the band
Arthur: thatīs the way it was!
Mover777: Iīd like a boot of Kirke/Koss covering the Hendrix tunes in their private jams!
JAZLOCHRIE: I shoulda frisked you....
DaveC: I didnīt tape it so that wouldna have helped
Mike Martin enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Arthur: Nice to talk to everyone, good luck with the new projects, talk soon Lucy, bye
DaveC: Paul frisked me at Liverppol, remember?
JimCasey: LOL!
JAZLOCHRIE: Thatīs what I meant....

JAZLOCHRIE: Wasnīt it Bristol?
lucypiller: Mike Martin for those who dont know him is the lead guitarist of FOZZY and the DUKE
Mike Martin: Just wanted to drop in for a minute while I take a break
DaveC: Nah, at the bar in the Cavern before the show
Mover777: is that one or two bands?
lucypiller: two different bands
Mike Martin: two seperate bands with some of the same members
Chuck-Balto enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'

lucypiller: Later though not now
lucypiller: lol
Mick - Yorks: can i ask what happened to Kossīs guitars ?
Chuck-Balto: hello Ennio
JimCasey: howard, have you played any of of the (fairly new) Gibson Chambered "Cloud 9" Les Paul Historic guitars? I have two and theyīre amazing intruments...sort of like a cross between a Les Paul and a 335...
Mike Martin: I had to break some of the MP3 links on my site as they were demos of songs that are going to be released this year.
JAZLOCHRIE: Thanks Mick....did we play there a couple of times or just once?
Mike Martin: Iīll be putting up album samples in the next few weeks
ingrid: Jaz, what was is that really got in the way of proceeding with BadCo? Personal reasons or something else?
Mick - Yorks: It was the last gig before the Labour Party thing, in fact i think it was the last official BC gig
lucypiller: Jaz when we saw you at the Guitar show last year Mike Martin was performing there too and you two were supposed to meet up. But it didnt happen
HMLEESE: saw one at the namm show, very cool. my HML guitars are chambered
JimCasey: Koss had several guitars - they all ended up in different places...DC had a very thorough piece in one of the Koss Anniversary issues a few years back...
JimCasey: Oh cool Howard. Do you build those yourself or is it a signature line? Sorry Iīm not familiar with them...
DaveC: Issue #102 I thibn
DaveC: think
Mick - Yorks: Where can i read that Dave ?
DaveC: You need to get the back issue. FAS details are on Lucyīs site
Mick - Yorks: Thank you Dave
JAZLOCHRIE: We were on a roll Ingrid and were supposed to regroup after a break....but Paul changed his mind.....I think he got tired and kept putting it off.....then there were other commitments and it lost itīs steam....shame
DaveC: That issue coveras
JimCasey: Mick, Iīd written about this once on the Les Paul Forum, referencing the FAS article and other misc. sources. Iīm sure you can find it by searching there as well...
lucypiller: http://www.allrightnow.com/fws/fas/fassubuk.htm
lucypiller: FAS Magazine
DaveC: That issue covers 99% of the guitars
JimCasey: Yes, itīs very well-done
JimCasey: Thereīs some UK magazines that have done pieces on Kossī guitars as well (these are referenced in the FAS issue)
Mick - Yorks: Thanks Lucy
DaveC: IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME CORRECTLY WHAT PAUL KOSSOFFīS FAVOURITE DRINK WAS DURING 1975 IīLL SEND THEM A CD PRIZE!!

guest414 leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: If you read the FAS it was in there
JimCasey: LOL!
JimCasey: thatīs probably it...or the Heavy Load bit...
DaveC: During the John Martyn tour some poor roadie was sent out in the middle of the night to find some
lucypiller: Hello Chuck when did you arrive?
JimCasey: Speaking of John Martin...
DaveC: he ended up knocked on residental doors
DaveC: and some guy gave up a bottle when he was told Paul Kossoff needed it !!
DaveC: True story
JimCasey: MOJO magazine had a hilarious article about the John Martyn/Kossoff/Danny Thompson gig last year...
Mick - Yorks: great story
JimCasey: anyone see that?
Mover777: Lucy - Barb is having t-storms - she couldnīt stay online.
Chuck-Balto: Lucy, a few minutes ago...just got off from work
JimCasey: fistfights and bottles flying etc...

DaveC: I think I reprinted it in FAS 105
JimCasey: Iīll try to find it...
JimCasey: oh cool!
DaveC: The tour of drunks!!
Mike Martin: I should probably run
JimCasey: The one where Danny Thompson says to the interviewer "If youīre Chris Welch, Iīm going to F**ckinī Kill you!" LOL!
Mick - Yorks: Am i right in thinking that i saw Koss once being interviewed on the Old Grey Whistle Test and he kept falling asleep ?
lucypiller: Its so strange for me to hear all the stories about Paul, Its just when I knew him he was aways sober and never dopped. Well maybe high on smoke but not much else, I think I only saw him perfom once badly in 33 gigs
ingrid: was southern comfort accompanying them?
Mike Martin: I need to load in before it starts raining
DaveC: When I interviewed JM at his home he got me so drunk all I could do was giggle!
lucypiller: Mike are you playing tonight
HMLEESE: gotta go too. bye all.. see you onstage
JimCasey: Yeah I can imagine what you mean, Lucy....you knew him in the early period...the "good days"

Rich UK: 9.30pm
Chuck-Balto: It was used in an episode of My Name Is Earl the other night too
Mick - Yorks: 9.30
Mover777: David C, have you ever seen a Page quote on Koss/Free? Heīs usually pretty talkative on guitarists, but while Iommi, Blackmore, Rossington, etc. are all on record I donīt ever remember hearing Pageīs comments.
ken hill: And you. couldnīt miss this now could I?
JimCasey: Cool...
DaveC: They didnīt license the track so itīs unlisted in royalties.... naughty!!
Ennio TO: Were they any left over tracks from KKTR?
JimCasey: of course not! Koss!
Mick - Yorks: Tony Iommi played with which band on the Rock and Roll Circus film ??
lucypiller: In about 25 mins time Todd Smith may turn up
DaveC: Iīve never heard Jimmy talk about Koss

Chuck-Balto: Jethro Tull
Mick - Yorks: YES !!!!!!
JimCasey: Iīm sure Page appreciated Koss
JimCasey: Ritchie Blackmore loved Free
Mover777: oh, you know he did
JimCasey: as well
DaveC: I did a KKTR with unreleased tracks but Island didnīt pick it up
Mover777: Iīd just like to see it in print.
Rich UK: who didnīt love FREE??
Mover777: Island should be kicked in the wobbles!!!!!!!!!!!! (
JimCasey: Thatīs a bummer DC
DaveC: It was done after the album remasters
JimCasey: Thank you DC for all the work on these releases.
Chuck-Balto: Dave, any luck getting the Free BBC Sessions picked up?
ken hill: I think DC has tried to over the years
Mick - Yorks: I saw Tull last week
DaveC: Five projects were īshelvedī after the albums came out
Mover777: I thought all the BBC sessions that are existing are sprinkled on the remasters?
JimCasey: I picked up that recent Chronicles 2-CD set...that is a really introduction to the uninitiated...
Mick - Yorks: Is there any Free footage on DVD yet ??
DaveC: KKRT, BSC, Rabbit, FREE BBC, New Koss album.
DaveC: Only bootleg right now, but there may be something coming
JimCasey: I believe DC did the liner notes on the Chronicles set?
Mover777: Maybe if you took it to Islandīs USA distributor?
Mover777: btw, who IS that now that A&M went under?
DaveC: I have more BBC. I was pushing for a 2CD set
Mick - Yorks: Hope so Dave
DaveC: USA have no interest in Free
Mover777: grrrrrrrrrrr
JimCasey: Thatīs true unfortunately...
beracey: who says?
DaveC: They just turned down a new project
ken hill: Dave, whatīs this new Koss album?
JimCasey: no one here knows about them...
DaveC: Island USA do
Chuck-Balto: unbelievable!!
Mover777: he means the record company, Barb

JimCasey: The unreleased tentatively-titled "Love Is The Lord"?
lucypiller: Hello Jenny
lucypiller: welcome to the KOSS CHAT
DaveC: Nah, that doesnīt exist
JimCasey: Was there any material from that or was that just a title?
DaveC: Two tracks
Mick - Yorks: What did Eric Clapton think of Koss ?
DaveC: Taken Hold Of Me was one of them
JimCasey: wow, cool
beracey: they have used All Right Now in commercials
Mover777: EC loved Kossoff.
Mover777: asked him to teach him tremolo
JAZLOCHRIE enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: A track called īIīm Oneī may be released later this year
ingrid: Well, tell Island, thereīs also Europe on the map!
Mover777: swapped guitars with him
JimCasey: I would bet that Clapton appreciated Koss.. Thereīs the story about him asking Koss about his vibrato on the BF/Free tour
lucypiller: Welcome back Jaz
JAZLOCHRIE leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: from the LITL sessions
Mover777: David, if Island wonīt bite, they should stand aside if Rhino or someone else will !!!
JimCasey: welcome back Jaz
Mick - Yorks: welcome back again Jaz
Rich UK: yeah, teh Les Paul that Koss gave Clapton is lovely, I wish I could buy it
DaveC: Thatīs difficult
DaveC: Its hard for a compnay to license unreleased tracks
JimCasey: I can imagine...
Mover777: so far, from my experience, Rhino has released things from Atlantic and Mercury - not sure what the sub-licensing deal is
Rich UK: btw, if anyone wished to add me to MSN - hedge_trimmer@hotmail.com
JimCasey: it must be tought
JimCasey: tough, sorry
Mover777: does Simon have any rough jam private cassettes of him and Kossoff covering Hendrix tunes?
Rich UK: What advert in the UK recently had Travellin Man as the theme tune?? was it car insurance??
Mick - Yorks: Jaz, can you give us any memories of what may have seemed strange gig for the Labour Party ?
ken hill: If they donīt want to release them sell them
DaveC: Iīm talking with Island presently about projects, so weīll see what happens
Chuck-Balto: good luck with that, Dave
Mover777: conjure up the ghost of Guy Stevens if you have to bring out the big guns!
Rich UK: do you anounce things like this in the FAS DavidC????
ken hill: DC howīs the next FAS comning along?
JimCasey: Best of luck DC and thank you for advancing these thing...
DaveC: lol
JimCasey: I mean things
lucypiller: Dave if they need some photos - let me know

lucypiller: http://www.allrightnow.com/fws/fas/fassubuk.htm
lucypiller: lol
DaveC: Yes, you MUST
Rich UK: lol
DaveC: Iīm working on the new FAS but with moving house its a bit of a nightmare!!
JimCasey: lucy is quick with the URLs
Mover777: Blackmore said in a Guitar Player article that he wrote "Mistreated" as a homage to "Heartbreaker"
JimCasey: yes, Iīve read that too
sarabar leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: old GP from the 70s
DaveC: Blackmore was always a huge FREE fan
Mover777: yeah, around the time of LONG LIVE RīNīR
Sasha-Rostov: Dave, are you moving from Bollborough?
Rich UK: i never knew that, but I dont particulayly like Blackmore, except for Blackmores Kingdom
lucypiller: Yes Jim I like to at least show the URL as we speak about them
lucypiller: Dont forget their is a Paul Kossoff forum too folks
DaveC: Thatīs my parents home. I live a little further away. Iīm moving south
JimCasey: thatīs good - very helpful reference!
lucypiller: http://kossoff.proboards28.com/index.cgi
Mover777: DaveC, not sure you can talk about it, but whatīs the deal with Amazon cutting the sale price for HL ? (thatīs how I got my copy, btw - learned afterwards it wasnīt authorized)
DaveC: So far as Iīm aware they still pay the same price from us
DaveC: So itīs their loss!!
Mover777: and my gain
DaveC: We canīt drop the price as it costs a fortune to print
ged wiggy: davec- the alternative version of come together in the morn on the tampa bootleg is it koss playing
Mover777: I read that thing in two days non-stop
Rich UK: lol
DaveC: Thatīs why we had to do it ourselves
Chuck-Balto: Dave, did you ever get around to a īsecond editionī?
DaveC: Other wise it would have been paperback with 20 pix in the middle
beracey: oh, ty Lucy for the info
Mover777: yeah - mine is a 2nd edition
ingrid: Dave, what about a successor to HL covering the story of BadCo?
DaveC: We are on the second edition now
Mover777: type-oīs all fixed
Mover777: ?????
JAZLOCHRIE enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: mine says itīs a 2nd ed ???
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: I donīt want to spend years researching that.
lucypiller: Welcome back Jaz !!!!
JimCasey: I donīt want to be negative, but can I take a moment to say that I think that Steven Rosenīs book on Free/Bad Co blows?
JAZLOCHRIE leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Yea, most of them lol
Mover777: maybe itīs a 2nd printing .. ?
Mover777: Rosen is not a good writer.
ken hill: Sucks as well
Chuck-Balto: Itīs no Heavy Load but it was alright for a quick īreadī
Rich UK: Is this in comparison to the HL book? or just in general??
lucypiller: I dont like it either
Mover777: I have suffered him from Guitar Player, Record Review, the Black Sabbath book ....
lucypiller: no comparison at all
JimCasey: Thank you, so Iīm not the only one who thinks so...
Ennio TO: I have to agree Jim
lucypiller: HEAVY LOAD is the Bible of FREE
Rich UK: I must read it, so I can put forward an opinion
Chuck-Balto: It didnī
DaveC: Awwww, you guys...... I couldnīt possibly comment
Chuck-Balto: It didnīt flatter PR thatīs for certain!!
JimCasey: his style is awful, he puts *himself* into the story, was disrespectful to David Kossoff, etc...
Mover777: heīs very opinionated and letīs himself get carried away with a "fact" thatīs just an opinion
JimCasey: I agree Heavy Load is fantastic
Mover777: spot-on, Jim
ingrid: blatantly superficial, very subjective, Rosen loves to listen to himself
Rich UK: I never liek that
JimCasey: Thank you
DaveC: Yea the bit about David pissed me off. Andy refused too but whereīs the diss on him?
JimCasey: Heavy Load speaks for itself DC - a labor of love. Thank you for that
Mover777: We like the same bands, but he will cut a great track - he needs electroshock therapy, methinks.
Chuck-Balto: To each his own....it doesnīt hold a candle to HL but how many books on Free and Bad Co are out there?
ken hill: Whatīs Andyīs problem?
DaveC: When I interviewed David for Heavy Load, no subject barred, he said he wanted it to be the last time he did that
DaveC: It was VERY hard for him
JimCasey: I was going to write Steven Rosen a nasty e-mail after reading that book, but then figured, whatīs the point? his head is so far up his arse...
JimCasey: Wow...
Mover777: I remember a letter to the Ed in GP where a guy wrote " ... but I wish youīd drop this Rosen character."
lucypiller: Just to let you know folks this chat will be posted on my website. Just wanted you to know :-)))
DaveC: lol
JimCasey: Yeah...
JimCasey: heīs awful
Rich UK: great Lucy, i missed alot of it and will have to catch up
JimCasey: sorry for bringing him up, I had to get that off my chest
ingrid: weīre not afraid of posting our opinions here, are we?
JimCasey: uh oh
lucypiller: thats ok thats what we are here for
JimCasey: LOL!
Mover777: I see that Kirke wrote the forward - I wonder is he saw the final copy?
Mick - Yorks enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
ken hill: Heīs probably going to sell a couple more books on the back of this chat
DaveC: lol
Rich UK: yeah, i feel like buying it now
JimCasey: Right then, maybe I shouldīve let it go...
Mover777: Iīll stick with Pete Frameīs family tree on BadCo for now.
JimCasey: itīs crap, it reads like a 14-year old girl at her first rock concert...
DaveC: Ugh, so many mistakes
Rich UK: is there any FREE/Koss/Bad Co radio stations online????
Mover777: his writing has always been like that
ken hill: No James itīs a good subject
ingrid: no criticism, dave, i love HL, but it has taken me a week to go through all of it , am a non nativespeaker, so you may imagine...
beracey leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: I wrote Pete Frame and asked him to correct a few things. He said he doesnīt do corrections!!!
lucypiller: how cool that would be eh a FREE KOSS BAD CO radio station
Mover777: lol
ingrid: but a few more antics would have helped a bit,
Chuck-Balto: Thatīs okay...I have an extra copy which Iīm going to unload on ebay
Ennio TO: yeah 24 hrs
Mover777: you know, thatīs how I first learned about the Free b-sides - was in agony trying to find them until the box set came out!
Rich UK: I actually feel like starting a īgood; radio station - I dont think there is enough material for a FREE one only
Rich UK: it would need other bands like Focus, Tull, canned heat etc
Rich UK: oh, I am getting excited just mentioning it
lucypiller: Radio ALLRIGHNTNOW ................Will give it some thought lol
lucypiller: spelt arse upwards lol
Sasha-Rostov: Lucy LOL
Ennio TO: thatīs not too hard to set up lucy
Debs: there you go Lucy!!!
Mover777: I would pump out stuff like "Pony Blues" and "Focus II"
lucypiller: OK who is going to join me eh
Rich UK: yeah - it would be great, I dont know how easy/hard it is to set up an online radio station
Debs: in your spare time eh?
Rich UK: Focus II is a great song
lucypiller: very funny DEBS LOL
Mover777: Getting the royalty rights would be very tough.
DaveC: Golden Earring were also big Free fans incidently
lucypiller: Just need help thats all
Rich UK: I used to work at a local hospital doing radio, I got alot of compliments from older listeners
Debs: Iīll join you!
DaveC: Check out the ītogetherī album
JimCasey: Really? Interesting...
ingrid: Hey Rich, how do you come across those bands and songs at your tender age?
Rich UK: Golden Earring are good, but no Focus in my opinion
DaveC: All Day Watcher is very FREE
Mick - Yorks: Every monday morning on the radio going to work īīMourning Sad Morningīī lol
Debs: hereīs me right arm
Rich UK: I would help out on an online station
DaveC: Yea, but Focus were mad!!
lucypiller: I shall make enquiries OK about a Radio Station on line
Rich UK: lol, I went to see Jan Akkerman a month or so ago in Kendal, I believe he is the best guitarist alive today
Ennio TO: need licensing online?
Sasha-Rostov: Dave, Especially Hocus Pocus
Mover777: yup
Rich UK: I dont think licensing is needed
lucypiller: well I will check
beracey leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: and then the following day, I went ot see wishbone ash - great weekend
Mover777: heīs like Coltrane on guitar - very angular (electric anyway)
Mick - Yorks: Wishbone Ash were at a local Working Mens Club here recently
ken hill: You lot are making me feel old I saw all these in the bloody 70īs
DaveC: Can everyone name their favourite LIVING guitarist?
Mover777: I loved Ash.
Rich UK: lol, I just feel out of place being 16
Mover777: probably Jeff Beck right now
ken hill: Snowy White
Rich UK: fav living guitarist.... hmmm.....
DaveC: David Gilmore is probably mine
Mover777: heīs kept up his chops
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Sasha-Rostov: David Gilmour
Rich UK: Walter Trout is a particular fav of mine
DaveC: Yea!!
lucypiller: MIKE LOWRY- who has just joined Tinsley Ellis band
Rich UK: I know I may be killed for this, but i dont rate Gimour that highly, maybe I havent heard enough of him
Mover777: if John McLaughlin will quit screwing around and get back into line itīd be him
henry2 enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
ken hill: Consider yourself killed
DaveC: Isnīt Mike Lowry Will Smithīs character in Bad Boys!!
lucypiller: Hi Henry 2
Mover777: Gilmour makes the most of what he has - doesnīt waste any notes.
lucypiller: could be Dave
DaveC: Gilmour is WAY underrated
JimCasey: I just picked up a Snowy White record - recent, from 2004 or 2005
JimCasey: heīs great
Mover777: I have liked everything heīs played.
Rich UK: i wil have to listen to him more - Kelly Joe Phelps is really good
Ennio TO: you guys saw R&R Fantasy with Simon Kirke?
JimCasey: Eric Johnson is one of my favorites...
DaveC: Very melodic and lyrical in his solos
Mover777: yes
Rich UK: Kenny Burrell
ken hill: Heīs a class act and a really nice guy, I did a gig with him years ago
Ennio TO: Eddie V.H.
JimCasey: Also Brett Hartenbach
Mover777: donīt go to him for Mahavishnu-like passages, but if you want lyricism well-thought out, heīs the man
ingrid: ask me about vocalists, that would be easier... slash, Iīd say
lucypiller: You all know Simons dvd (instructional Drumming) is coming out this summer
Mover777: I would put Van Halen WAAAAY down the list
Rich UK: Van Halen is good at what he does, but i dont like that
Sasha-Rostov: Dave and Gilmour is a fine singer as well
Mover777: heīs been doing the same licks on every song for how many years?
DaveC: Ediie VH is a big Stray Dog fan funnily enough, Snuffy Waldens old band
Rich UK: KOSS!!!!!!
JimCasey: oh thatīs cool Lucy
Ennio TO: or young Clapton LOL
DaveC: VH used to do Stray Dog covers !!

beracey enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: << puts glue on Barb
Rich UK: am i right that Kirke is going back to the Bein Inn??
ingrid: thought it was cancer of the tongue??
Debs: yes, heīs had alot of health problems, that & personal problems as well

Mover777: he had a tumor removed in his skull
Mover777: and hip surgery
lucypiller: He is doing fine now though Simon
Mover777: etc.
JimCasey: Who?
JimCasey: EVH?
beracey: sorry, donīt mean to keep popping in and out, screen keeps freezing on me, I hope you have this all saved
Mover777: VH
lucypiller: Gary Moore?
Debs leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: yes
JimCasey: ah yes, thatīs a shame...
Rich UK: i never realsied
henry2 leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: I consider him a marginal player.
JimCasey: who?
Mover777: VH
Rich UK: anyone like players like Doc Watson??
Mover777: if I want tapping Iīll go to Stanley
DaveC: lol
Rich UK: stanley?
Mover777: Jordan
JimCasey: well, I donīt know if Iīd say heīs a marginal player...but to each his own...I grew out of the VH-style thing, but EVH is a very good guitarist..
Mover777: the jazz guy
Rich UK: oh right
ALMayer-NC enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
JimCasey: ...in my opinion...
Rich UK: for jazz, Jan Akkerman and Joe Pass are the best I think
lucypiller: Hey I heard a very good guitarist with a Koss style let me see if I can find him ok
lucypiller: brb
DaveC: Eddie VH has depth, that makes him interesting. Heīs not just a īwiddlerī
lucypiller: Hi Alan
lucypiller: brbr
Mover777: Grant Green, Barney Kessell, McLaughlin ......
JimCasey: Agreed DC
ALMayer-NC: Hi!
Mick - Yorks: Robert Cray is okay
Rich UK: Andy Powell for originality (although it was only original 25 years ago)
Rich UK: 35*
JimCasey: The world is full of incredible guitarists...
Mover777: and Martin Turner
JimCasey: no shortage in any genre
beracey: yes
Rich UK: martin turner as in bassisT??
Mover777: oops
Ennio TO: we mustīt forger Gary.......have you seen what a boost he gave to Cream songs with Baker and Bruce?
Rich UK: ted?
Mover777: no the other guitarist
Mover777: Ted
Mover777: yeah sorry
DaveC: Iīd LOVE to see the Andy Powell / Laurie Wisefield Ash line up back together. Iīd buy a ticket for that!
JimCasey: but Iīve never heard a guitarist who can reduce me to tears with one note...like Koss
Mover777: (no relation)
Rich UK: he is one hellish player, plays blues mainly now
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Ennio TO: like a younger meaner Clapton
Rich UK: Dave C - there are rumours that line up will reunite at this years AshCON
Mover777: I liked the BBM album alot.
Rich UK: which btw, is in Chesterfield
ken hill: That would be worth seeing
DaveC: THAT would be VERY cool
Mover777: Thereīs the Rub was a good album
Rich UK: well, all the info is on the website
ken hill: Just up the road from you DC
Mover777: for that lineup
DaveC: New England is better
Rich UK: Pilgrimage was my favourite (although it wasnt wisefield)
Rich UK: New engladn has outwabrd bound on it
DaveC: Iīm in Silver Spring Maryland !!
Rich UK: great
Mover777: I prefer the Turner-Powell band
Rich UK: me too mover
Mover777: but Laurie was good, too
ken hill: Jet Setter
DaveC: I like that band too
Rich UK: i think the new guitarist Muddy Manninen is great live
DaveC: Just looking after the poorly here !!
Rich UK: brings back the sounds of the Mk I lineup
Mover777: I think Powell-Turner beat out Allman-Betts - and thatīs saying something!
Rich UK: so, what music are people listening to right now??
DaveC: What about Peter Green
Mover777: awesome guitarist!
Mick - Yorks enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: peter green is amazing aswell
JimCasey: Well, I have to run...nice seeing you all (the folks I know already) and nice meeting you (the folks Iīve just met...) Take care and thank you for remembering Koss today
Mover777: the Mac should have dropped the name post-Greene
JimCasey: The Green God!
JimCasey: :-)
beracey leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Ennio TO: see ya Jim
Rich UK: but i wnet to see him in london a few years back and he is quite reclusive, which wasnt good
ken hill: Take it easy James email you soon.
Rich UK: by jim
DaveC: I like The Secret Machines. Going to see them when I get home
Sasha-Rostov: DaveC, Peter Green is a good, but as far as I know he plays live badly now
Mover777: Heīs a recovering psychotic .... thatīs expected.
JimCasey: Thanks yaīll! Take care
Mover777: at least he came back - Syd Barrettīs gone for good
Rich UK: yeah, i really didnt like the atmosphere the time i went to see him
JimCasey leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Yea, but check out the live stuff from Boston back in the day. Heīs ON FIRE!!
Mover777: yup
Mover777: too bad we didnīt get more "Then Play Onīs" out of him
Rich UK: yeah
ken hill: You donīt get many can produce a tone like that
DaveC: 25 minutes of Rattlesnake Shake and heīs BURNING IT UP
Sasha-Rostov: Dave C, Boston 1969?
Mover777: and a long Green Manalishi
Rich UK: there arent too many good bands out at the minute?? has musicianship declined???
Mover777: composing sure has
DaveC: He was the only person that came close to Koss for me, in that style, but he paid the price
DaveC: Yea, the 3CD set
Mover777: itīs too bad he wasnīt treated early
ken hill: Strange that it happens that way huh?
DaveC: Boston tea Party
Mover777: Koss too, for that matter - for his addictions
Rich UK: yeah
DaveC: Donīt own it.... GO BUY IT
Sasha-Rostov: Dave C, I have this one. Great!
Mover777: buy the Blue Horizon box, too
Rich UK: the album that i recommend to you all is Beck Bogert and Appice
Rich UK: i think its brilliand
Mover777: and BBAīs live album, too
Mick - Yorks enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: yeah
DaveC: For Beck Iīd go Blow By Blow or Wired
Mover777: Beck is always brilliant
ken hill: I saw them at a festival in Scotland in the 70īs they were amazing
Sasha-Rostov: Dave C, I did listen to Jumping At Shadows 2CD yesterday - cool.
ingrid: Rich, got that on vinyl (BBA)
Rich UK: were they together long??
Mover777: one year
Rich UK: ingrid - i do yeah but its not great quality
Mover777: Bogart and Beck didnīt get along
DaveC: Beck had be in tears at Shepheard Bush in 1999
Rich UK: oh right
Rich UK: thats life
DaveC: He was just outstanding
Chuck-Balto: Beck is a moody fellow (right along with Blackmore)
Mover777: yeah
Rich UK: i saw a video of jeff beck playing with SRV - Beck played well but SRV was on top
ged wiggy: listen to billy cobhams spectrum with tommy bolin great jazz fusion a line koss should have followed
Mover777: really?
Mover777: SRV said he thought Beck blew him away
Mover777: I have that video.
DaveC: Bolin, another BIG Kossoff fan
Mover777: Koss playing fusion???
Rich UK: well, its just opinion
ALMayer-NC leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Chuck-Balto: The stuff Beck puts out today is just techno-noise
Rich UK: yeah
Mover777: disagree
Mover777: heīs putting out vital stuff
lucypiller: Just to let you know the 1 hour chat is now reaching 2 and a half hours, and I am not hinting, the chat can keep going till you have had enough. :-)
Chuck-Balto: disagree its noise
DaveC: I think Jeff is out on a limb. I donīt like it all but heīs a real player
Mover777: lol
Rich UK: yeah, all musicians can experiment with different things
Mover777: well , if he was doing "Ainīt Superstitious" now he wouldnīt be commercial
ged wiggy: why not i always thought just for the box was in fusion mode and koss wrote it
DaveC: Some of his whammy bar stuff is incredible
Chuck-Balto: Heīs a real player but his choice of material doesnīt do anything for me these days....gimme Truth!!
ken hill: Just for the box is one of my all time favīs
Mick - Yorks: Will we ever see a Fraser/Rodgers composition or is that just pie in the sky ?
Mick - Yorks: A new one that is lol
Rich UK: a few bands that I like, that are modern(ish) are Primus, Kelly Joe Phelps and Kaiser Chiefs (the latter makes me sound like a teeny bopper)
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
ken hill: I canīt think of a single modern band that just wipes me out, any suggestions?
Rich UK: Lucy - di you say you would post this chat on the ARN sitE?
Chuck-Balto: There arenīt any.......
Rich UK: music has changed, mainly due to the media - the customers follow what the radio play, and that is all hip hop and r+b now
Rich UK: and when i say r+b, i dont mean chuck berry
Chuck-Balto: hip hop = garbage
Mick - Yorks enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Rich UK: exactly
DaveC: Secret Machines are excellent, Interpol are good too
Sasha-Rostov: Exactly, Chuck
ingrid: main thing is to look good for the videos, jsut mimicking their instruments or abusing them
Mover777: I canīt think of any modern band outside of that Icelandic fusion band that is out now that is doing anything much.
Rich UK: i am not a fan of interpol, but i will check out secret machines
DaveC: There are bands out there, but they arenīt FREE
Ennio TO: Back......but gotta run, Later everyone.
Ennio TO leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: nope
Mover777: waaaah!
Mover777:
ken hill: LOL
debandfred enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Chuck-Balto: I remember when they tried to pass Reef off as the next Free....HA!!!!!
Mover777: but at least we have the albums
Mover777: who is Reef?
DaveC: check out their websire for musci downloads. www.thesecretmachines
Rich UK: really? i never heard that, but it was clearly not true
ken hill: SAme letters wrong notes
Rich UK: thanks Dave
Chuck-Balto: They were a UK band but they were NO FREE!
DaveC: Forget Reef
Rich UK: i didnt liek them
ingrid: commercial aspects are more important than music and vocation
Mover777: well, nobody can be - even "Heartbreaker" wasnīt the īrealī Free w/o Fraser in the band.
Mover777: (good as it was)
DaveC: Good debut album, dreadful live when Isaw them
Rich UK leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mick - Yorks leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
debandfred leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
ged wiggy: if koss had got his act together free with tetsu and rabbit would have been awsome - opinion
Sasha-Rostov: Reef has no own music style
DaveC: agreed
ALMayer-NC enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: they were a strong band, but they wouldnīt have had Andyīs writing
aida enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: It would have been a different FREE, but no less good
ingrid: Iīll try once more: was Koss aware of his way to hell or was he in denail of his problems with drugs, Dave?
ingrid: denial
DaveC: The drugs take over and become a way of life
Mover777: anyone in that condition has to know - whether they do anything about it is another matter.
ged wiggy: the box set remixes of heartbreaker material was wonderful and showed what a powerful unit they could have been
Mover777: Jack Bruce hauled himself out of the abyss ... so did Page.
DaveC: Everyone knows heroin kills, so why do people still get hooked?
DaveC: So Did EC but is that more to do with luck?
DaveC: Hell, look at Keith Richards!!
Mover777: lol
Mover777: well he had a 90% blood-transfusion
Mover777: he took extreme measures
DaveC: When he dies we arenītgoing to bury him, we are going to smoke him !!
Mover777: heck just stand him up in a museum
Mover777: heīs already mummified
Sasha-Rostov: Are you kidding, DC?
aida leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: lol
Mover777: you know that transfusion thing almost killed him?
ALMayer-NC leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: thatīs why they donīt do that procedure any more
Mover777: too much body-rejection
Sasha-Rostov: Keith Richards is immortal!
ken hill: I donī think anythingīll kill Keith
Mover777: he kills grass when he lies down in a yard methinks
DaveC: lol
ken hill: Itīī ll be the biggerst roach ever when he goes
Mover777: btw, who is Simon Kossoff? what relation?
DaveC: I bet heīs flammable !!
ken hill: Brother of Paul
Mover777: how many years age diff ?
Sasha-Rostov: Dave C, LOL
ingrid: so noone could kick his arse to get him away from the drugs? What weighed more? The split of Free or misunderstandings with his family?
DaveC: Paul Kossoffīs brother?
ken hill: a bit older donīt know how many years though, DC?
Mover777: yes
DaveC: Simon is two years older I believe
Mover777: Ingrid, in the HL book youīll see they even nabbed Koss and ran away to try and clean him up - they didnīt have the treatments available then that we have now.
ged wiggy: simon kossoff is a television cameraman his name is seen on many a tv credit
lucypiller: Dave how many books would you say have sold total so far?
Mover777: it would have been mostly Koss himself whoīd have needed to clean up, and he didnīt have a strong enough will - lots of great musicians were like that
ingrid: Yeah, I read that, and i know itīs even a genetic dispostion, but sometimes I donīt want to realise such a waste of talent
DaveC: One has to remember the drugs did not kill Paul. It was a blood clot due to altitude and flying
ken hill: Simonīs moved on a bit, heīs abit more than just a Cameraman these days.
Mover777: Itīs equal to any other great sad story in the history of rock, for sure.
ALMayer-NC enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
lucypiller: Hey welcome back Al
DaveC: The drugs didnīt help, but he did NOT OD
lucypiller: I did call you while you were outta town
Mover777: his heart conditions were more of a cause to his death, right?
ingrid: But the drugs led to the complete standstill of his circukation, leaving him unconcious and more for over half an hour,
ALMayer-NC: I was in Chicago...wish I could stay and see Queen/PR up there
Mover777: the drugs destroyed his talent
fan enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Blood clot to the heart and lungs
fan: hello
lucypiller: hey welcome FAN? where ya from?
fan: just a question..do you archive these chats?
Sasha-Rostov: Hello fan, fan of ... ?
lucypiller: who's asking?
Sasha-Rostov: Are you from England?
Mover777: if Free had been able to tour the USA more, they would have a lot bigger name here ... like Family, that was a major problem
fan: sorry
fan leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: bye, fan
Mover777: ?
lucypiller: I just like to know who is logging on
DaveC: Was fan a spy?????
lucypiller: :-)
lucypiller: we get many
ken hill: Looks like he/she got scared off
DaveC: Does anyone care???
Mover777: maybe fan was Pablo?
Sasha-Rostov: Lol
ALMayer-NC: AL QUAIDA
DaveC: Boo !!
ingrid: canīt you trace it as the owner of the site, lucy?
Mover777: she can trace the IP but what will that tell you?
Sasha-Rostov: Poor Pablo - stupid guy!
lucypiller: its not my style to trace people, I just like people to be honest chatters
ingrid: maybe steven rosen...lol
ken hill: Probably Reef
Mover777: ha ha ha
Sasha-Rostov: Sorry Lucy
Mover777: hey, nobodyīs mentioned Rory
lucypiller: Al you have to be careful using those names AQ
DaveC: OK so I have to go in 15 mins or so. Does anyone have any Koss or achive questions I might be able to answer?
Mover777: I think he and Kossoff never influenced each other
lucypiller: as chat rooms are checked
lucypiller: for words
DaveC: Koss wanīt a Gallagher fan
Mover777: thatīs too bad - Rory loved him
Chuck-Balto: Dave, do you ever have any contact with Sless?
ALMayer-NC: oops... hey theres a knock on my door
lucypiller: very funny
DaveC: I like Rory too. Nice guy also.
lucypiller: lol
ged wiggy: is there much chance of any koss material being released in near future?
lucypiller: Sless was on earlier you know
DaveC: Sure, I know Terry
lucypiller: he had a gig tonight
lucypiller: said if anyone had any questions to ask here
Mover777: DaveC did you know the album with _____ is out that Koss/Kirke played on?
Mover777: on German CD, remastered?
lucypiller: and he would check them later and reply
Chuck-Balto: I thought he wasnīt able to be here tonight?
lucypiller: so leave your email and he will replu
Sasha-Rostov: Dave C, what do you think about Ribin Trower? Did you seen him playing live last years?
DaveC: There really isnīt much stuff left but we were looking into a īnewī Koss album. Its really up to Island to fund it so we can look through the tapes
Mover777: if you can find any of the private jams that he did with Kirke that would be great - whatever the sound quality
DaveC: The album with ????
ken hill: DC Koss didnīt really play on the Black Cat Bone Marquee thing did he?
Mover777: the Blue Horizon album
ged wiggy: do island make any money out of free still?
Mover777: with the blues guy
Mover777: my mind is blank right now ???
DaveC: No, thatīs Rod Price who replaced Koss
ken hill: Cahmpion Jack Dupree
DaveC: Jack Dupree?
Mover777: not the BCB album
Mover777: YES
ken hill: or even Champion
Mover777: sorry, couldnīt think
Chuck-Balto: On the bootleg live at the marquee theyīre saying itīs Koss..... is it?
DaveC: Thatīs out on Sony as a 2CD set with extra tracks
Mover777: Anyway, itīs out - picture-CD, etc.
ken hill: I donīt believe it is having bought the damn thing
DaveC: There are no live bootlegs of BCBs with Koss
DaveC: There are some rehearsal tapes but they arenīt released... yet
Chuck-Balto: Thanks Dave, thatīs what I wanted to know.....
Mover777: They made a 2-CD set of the CJD material ??
ken hill: Didnīt think so, just the rehearsal tapes huh?
DaveC: I did release to tracks of BCBs with Koss for the PKFund some years ago
ken hill: Yeah Iīve got a copy of those
DaveC: Yes there is a 2CD set of the Blue Horizon Dupree material. Its on Amazon
Sasha-Rostov leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: and itīs all from the Koss/Kirke sessions?
Chuck-Balto: .....and the Complete Kossoff Sessions.....
DaveC: One CD of it is from that album / sessions yes
Mover777: oh, ok
Mover777: so no extra tracks with them?
DaveC: Complete Kossoff Session includes all the album tracks but this new remaster has a few unreleased tracks
DaveC: they arenīt very good tho!
Chuck-Balto: Dave, does Andy ever have plans of releasing the Toby material?
DaveC: lol
DaveC: Thatīs a NO
ken hill: Are you selling it via FAS or will I have to go to Amazon?
Mover777: Andy wouldnīt answer questions about Toby in the chat here a few months back.
DaveC: The Dupree is on Amazon but if you have any problems let me know
DaveC: Yea , that figures!
Chuck-Balto: So I guess thereīs no chance he and Rodgers will ever collaborate again.....
DaveC: The Toby stuff is very RAW but some of it is okay
ingrid: do you really thinnk that would be possible after alll?
DaveC: Andy and Paul are a universe apart these days
lucypiller: Never say Never..............
Chuck-Balto: Travellinī Man from Pop Chronik is good.....
ken hill: HAving listened to Andyīs latest album Iīm not sure how good an idea it would be.
lucypiller: are Andys words
ged wiggy: its the miller/fraser stuff that wants releasing
DaveC: There is actually a version of that cut with a little bass solo at the beginning
Mover777: I havenīt liked Fraserīs post-AFB material ..... too cabaret for me, I guess.
DaveC: I thibk the Fraser / Miller stuff is FANTASIC
DaveC: think
ALMayer-NC: the question is ...who on guitar??
lucypiller: Have you got the new cd Dave?
Chuck-Balto: how much is there?
DaveC: Frankie or Paul K
lucypiller: Frankie
DaveC: Andyīs CD?
DaveC: No, Iīve not heard it
ken hill: Frankie was a a decent player
DaveC: I was never a big fan of Frankies albums
Mover777: DaveC - did Jude ever make any recordings, private jams or whatever?
DaveC: Live he was great thoī
DaveC: Andy claims he never played with Jude
Mover777: ?
Chuck-Balto: I donīt think he did....
DaveC: I might ask Robin about that
lucypiller: I also dont think so
Mover777: no, that was Miller/Trower/Bunker/
Mover777: and Trowerīs bassist
DaveC: Dewar
beracey enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
lucypiller: Here is TODD SMITH
Mover777: yeah
Mover777: sorry
ken hill: Iīve got to go now, good to talk to you all, God bless Koss and letīs not forget David.
Mover777: my mind is going now LOL
lucypiller: Hey Todd Three HOURS we have been here
lucypiller: lol
Mover777: hello, Todd
DaveC: Who is Todd Smith??
Mover777: ha ha
Chuck-Balto: LOL
Mover777: hi Barb
ingrid: lol
beracey: hi Todd
beracey: hi Brian
lucypiller: Pleased you could make it
tksmith: wow!
Mover777: thereīs a Miller/Trower song on the Miller Band album I have
Mover777: itīs the best cut on that album
ken hill leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: lol
tksmith: Hello all
ken hill enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
lucypiller: Hope you had a great day Todd
Chuck-Balto: hello Todd
ken hill leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Frankie has written some great material over the years
Mover777: and on Trowerīs first album, "I Canīt Wait Much Longer" was a Miller/Trower song
ged wiggy: lucy whats the best kossoff gig you saw or anybody
lucypiller: We did have Jaz and Howard Leese here also Carl Dunn and many other fans
tksmith: Yes, good day - thank you Lucy - all well there?
tksmith: who is David C?
Mover777: Mr. Smith, thanks for "Heavy Load" - great book.
lucypiller: Well if yu want to know which Free gig was best, I would look up my diary which I havent got handy right now. When I saw each gig I did rate it and talk about all of the 33 shows
DaveC: lol
DaveC: Oh just some know it all dude
ALMayer-NC leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
beracey: lol
tksmith: Thank you Mover777. It was David that made it all worth it.
Mover777: Dave did you see MOJOīs crappy review of the box set? Really made me mad, they should have let Murray write it.
DaveC: Couldnīt have done it without Todd Smith.... Believe it !
lucypiller: In my head I think a show in Epping sticks out in 1970 and also a place called FARX but the date I cannot remember, and of course the first time I saw FREE at the Country Club that must have been the most impact
Chuck-Balto: kudos to the two of you!!!
DaveC: I didnīy know they gave it a crappy review?
Mover777: yup - very smart-ass
DaveC: I have all the reviews
DaveC: Some got their facts wrong, but thatīs okay
Mover777: that writer is not one of their better ones - heīs crapped on alot of great albums
Chuck-Balto: I have the Mojo and Record Collector reviews.....
DaveC: I love the boxed set
Mover777: he called the alternate take of ARN "lame," etc.
lucypiller: ITs pure FREE
DaveC: The RC review was a bit strange
DaveC: I did write to them but they didn;t print the letter. I DID in the FAS
Mover777: obviously Free is not at the top of that writerīs list of good bands ..... so he shouldnīt have reviewed it
Chuck-Balto: A couple of Toby tracks wouldīve hurt.....
lucypiller: It was so exciting when you both Todd and Dave were working on it and I was witnessing the development of the book
DaveC: Well it is different, but thatīs the idea
lucypiller: You were too funny Todd when I first met you in the UK gig
DaveC: want the original, buy the album !
Chuck-Balto: Wouldnīt have I meant to say.,...
tksmith: Thank you Chuck-Balto. Just reading some of the back comments.
Mover777: I went ape when the box came out.
DaveC: So did I lol
Mover777: so many sounds now to the front that were lost on vinyl
Mover777: not to mention the unreleased stuff
DaveC: Andy wouldnīt go for the Toby stuff
DaveC: which was a shame but I can live with that
Chuck-Balto: It deserved to be the ībox set of the yearī.....
Mover777: He didnīt care for the box, either - said only one cd of material was any good - heīs so critical!
Mover777: at least Kirke likes it
DaveC: I donīt think Andy īgetsī the boxed set
ingrid: sorry, but do you refer to the box set as the songs of yesterday or am I completely on the wrong path??
Chuck-Balto: doesnīt īget itī at all....
yodaedwards enters the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
Mover777: there are only two tracks on it I would consider "naff" but they are interesting in seeing a song develop
DaveC: but thatīs okay too
Mover777: yes, Ingrid
DaveC: they are?
tksmith: Yes, the box set was/is magnificient. Another major credit to David. I saw first hand how hard he worked. To this day it is the best box set in my collection.
Mover777: yeah, Trouble on Double Time is pretty raw
ingrid: thank you, mover...I couldnīt live anymore without this set!!!!
Mover777: the final song of that is soooo great!
DaveC: Hey, I forgot you were there for a couple of days!!
Mover777: Woman of the Sea - to - Remember is really neat, too
DaveC: Yes TODT is, but it shows the developement of the band after they split brieftly in 1969
lucypiller: Yes it is Todd the best Box set
ingrid: Take cd4 and you know, why to envy Lucy !
Mover777: Has a great booklet, too.
lucypiller: I wish I could take you all back in time to a gig, so you can experience what I did, you would not believe it
Mover777: has my fave pic of the band in there
ged wiggy: best tracks sail on- seven angels
DaveC: The idea of the box was to show the developement of the band via the unreleased material and demos they made
Chuck-Balto: mission accomplished!!
DaveC: It is to be considered a companion to the officials albums
Chuck-Balto: a very fitting companion....
Mover777: well Iīm glad that Koss/Martyn track surfaced on there - itīs so great
ingrid: It has got such a personal touch to it, with false beginnings, throat clearings, and even unexpected tunes from Koss`s guitar.
DaveC: Andy would have liked it to be another compilation I think
DaveC: No īNEWī material
Mover777: it also has the complete THE STEALER - too bad Free didnīt issue that on Highway like that
DaveC: You have Andy to thank for that
Chuck-Balto: It was.....an alternate compilation!!!
Mover777: lol
yodaedwards leaves the room 'Allrightnow Lounge'
DaveC: Andy wanted his tracks pulled so a new edit of Time Awat became the whole jam
Mover777: It has alot more life with all the guitar - too "tame" on the released album
DaveC: Of all the tracks from Highway STEALER has the real KOSS on it
ged wiggy: was anything else recorded by koss/ john martyn thats in the vault
DaveC: Just firing it up, and that tone..........
Mover777: well, hopefully Island will wake up and snort the coffee grounds
tksmith: I wanted to mention that I met Simon back stage at the Queen show in NYC. He looks great and healthy. He is so greatful to all the fans and especially made mention of Lucy. I wanted to pass that on.
Mover777: cool
DaveC: I still have to go through those tapes. There may be more
lucypiller: Yes thank you Dave he told me he was there - he sent an update to me too for his website
Mover777: Kossoff loved Be My Friend so much, yet it doesnīt have all that much of him on it - really unselfish
ged wiggy: whats the reaction to queen/p rodgers in america?
lucypiller: sorry I ment Simon told me
lucypiller: This is a KOSSOFF chat
DaveC: There is more after the fade.... but the master is missing!!
Mover777: My reaction is - TICKETS COST TOO MUCH. outside of that , coolness
ingrid: Did Simon like what he saw and heard?
lucypiller: Yes he did, he really enjoyed the show
lucypiller: Next week we can have a QPR chat if you wish
Chuck-Balto: speaking of Simon....a friend from the UK sent me a 2 cd set of his solo show in Scotland...

DaveC: There is a really good boot from the Scotland shows going around - 2CD
Chuck-Balto: very good since itīs an acoustic show.....
Chuck-Balto: Dave, thatīs the one I have....
lucypiller: so Dave this must be the same as Chucks

ingrid: yes Lucy, at the Bein Inn. Try to arrrange my schedule in order to go there
DaveC: It MAY come out yet!!
DaveC: BSC with extra cuts too

KossLady: Dave, are you still doing the FAS zine?
Mover777: Molten Gold survives
lucypiller: Simon should be playing more shows at the Bein Inn but nothing has been booked yet
DaveC: We were going to try and fly the vocals in from a mix tape to a new mix
